A 34-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the Nebraska Panhandle city of Sidney
SIDNEY, Neb. (AP) - A 34-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the Nebraska Panhandle city of Sidney.
Authorities say Jason Custer made his plea Tuesday in Cheyenne County District Court.
Custer is charged with shooting to death Adam McCormick on Nov. 3. Investigators have said they think the two men were arguing about $160 in drug money.
Another man, 35-year-old Billy Fields, has pleaded guilty to being an accessory to a felony and has agreed to testify against Custer.
Prosecutors say Fields and Custer's girlfriend, Amber Davis, helped Custer flee to Big Springs after the shooting and then provided misleading information to police.
Davis' trial on two misdemeanor charges is scheduled for March 15.
