It could be an uphill battle as legislation that would ban assault weapons moves forward on Capitol Hill

It could be an uphill battle as legislation that would ban assault weapons moves forward on Capitol Hill. Nebraska U-S Senator Mike Johanns says he doesn't see much chance of gun restriction legislation coming to the Senate and House that will pass.

Mike Johanns, U-S Senator; "bear arms."

Senator Johanns did join forces with colleagues with bipartisan legislation that would help law enforcement deal with those suffering with mental health issues.

U-S Senator Mike Johanns doesn't expect much to come from gun safety proposals, including a ban on assault weapons. This was in response to the Newton, Conn. mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Senator Johanns says there were underlying mental health issues with the gunman and those are issues that should be addressed.

Johanns; "like this."

Senator Johanns says there is continued bipartisan support on Capitol Hill for the 2nd Amendment.
