American needs a wake up call when it comes to Agriculture. That from U-S Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.

Secretary Vilsack says populations in rural areas continue to decline and that gives the sector a smaller voice in Congress and even at the state level. He says that sends the challenge to those in rural areas to regain the political clout and build new relationships with those who can make a real difference.
Agriculture comes in second regarding leading economic industries in the nation. U-S Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says

Secretary Vilsack says 50-percent of the rural counties in our nation lost population over recent years and that gives the industry a smaller voice in government. He says our challenge now is to make good connections with those who understand and can help rebuild rural America.
There is good cause for those in agriculture to hold their heads high. Agriculture is the second most productive industry and money earner for our nation. U-S Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says unfortunately rural America has less political clout than in the past and he says it is now time to build strong relationships with those who could help. He uses former Nebraska U-S Senator Chuck Hagel's nod for Secretary of Defense as an example.

Secretary Vilsack says another way for agriculture to build an alliance on Capitol Hill is by taking advantage of the Treasury Secretary's new tax credit program to support economic opportunities and ways to invest them in rural communities.
