More Gifts Of Food This Year

We can thank Nebraska farmers for many of the gifts that will be given this holiday season. Kathy Grannis is with the National Retail Federation and says more and more people will be buying gifts of food this year.

Grannis says in a recent survey more than 12% stated they would buy gift cards to grocery stores and gas stations and give them to friends and family this year.


The meat and grain produced in Nebraska make popular Christmas gifts. Kathy Grannis is a spokesperson for the National Retail Federation and says more people are giving grocery store and gas station gift cards this season.

Grannis says the number of people planning on buying food or candy and giving them as gifts is at 33%, up from 30% in 2011.

More than 12-percent of those taking part in a National Retail Federation survey say they will by grocery store and gas station gift cards as gifts this year. Spokesperson Kathy Grannis says due to the struggling economy it will be a welcome gift.
