A 21-year-old North Platte man has pleaded no contest to vehicular homicide for the hit-and-run crash death of a bicyclist last year.
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - A 21-year-old North Platte man has pleaded no contest to vehicular homicide for the hit-and-run crash death of a bicyclist last year.
North Platte television station KNOP reports (http://bit.ly/11SSp6c ) that Michael Malmkar on Tuesday also pleaded no contest to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
Authorities say Malmkar hit 56-year-old Levern Walter and his wife, Roberta, also 56, while they were riding their bikes south of North Platte in June 2011. Levern Walter died of his injuries. Roberta Walter was treated at a hospital.
Malmkar is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 25.
