An 89 year old Mitchell, South Dakota man was scammed out of hundreds of dollars after falling for a caller saying he won the lottery.
Better Business Bureau President Jim Hegarty says scammers are now asking for victims to use Green Dot MoneyPaks.
Jim Hegarty:
The Green Dot MoneyPaks are basically debit cards that can be used for purchases or to add money to pre-paid cards. Hegarty says the victim purchased a card and then was told by the caller to give him the numbers and that gave him access to the funds. He also warns card users never give MoneyPak numbers to someone they don't know even if they a website displays those logos. Hegarty says always check with the BBB if you have questions about MoneyPak cards.
