A managed physical care program run by Nebraska Medicaid is expanding statewide.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska Medicaid currently offers managed physical health care in 10 counties, through private health care services. The additional 83 counties will be covered by AmeriHealth Nebraska, Inc., and Coventry Care Healthcare of Nebraska. The expansion will take effect on July 1.

Managed care means each client will have a primary care provider. The service emphasizes preventative care.

Nearly 100,000 Medicaid clients are enrolled in managed care. The expansion will add about 65,000 people.

Medicaid managed care for mental health services has been offered statewide since 1995.
