The Food Bank for the Heartland helps to stack the shelves of food banks in 93 counties in Nebraska and western Iowa, and they say there is a growing number of people that are "food insecure" in the region.
Spokesman Brian Barks says a new report pinpoints how many people are food insecure.

Nebraska and Iowa both rank very low when it comes to unemployment statistics. Barks says that is true but unfortunately many people in this area are underemployed.

Barks says the partner with the organization Feeding America put together a map that breaks down county-by-county the number of people who are considered food insecure. This report proves there is no boundary when it comes to hunger.

Barks says a recent trip to Grand Island shows there is a need for services in the more rural areas of the state.

Barks says they just wrapped up two mobile food banks over the weekend in Wayne and Taylor.
